🔥 Citi and Coinbase bring stablecoin payments to corporate checkout One of the world's largest banks is letting its corporate clients accept stablecoin payments. Citi has partnered with Coinbase so that multinational companies can receive stablecoins through Citi's merchant services, as reported by WSJ. Here's how it works. Coinbase provides the stablecoin payment rails and $BTC blockchain infrastructure and automatically converts incoming stablecoins into fiat. Citi then handles final settlement as the bank. It also works in the other direction. Coinbase's payment clients will be able to use Citi's banking infrastructure to receive, hold and pay out funds. Incoming cash will convert automatically into USD-pegged stablecoins, which currently earn 3.75% a year on Coinbase. Citi is building its own on-chain tools too. Its token services for 24/7 cross-border transfers between corporate accounts now cover seven jurisdictions, most recently Japan and the UAE. The regulatory backdrop makes this more notable. According to WSJ, the deal comes after the CLARITY Act failed to pass the US Senate. Citi says it will keep building within its existing banking licence. As Citi's Shahmir Khaliq put it, this is "a really important piece to complete the puzzle." Businesses no longer have to choose between banks and stablecoins. Will this model become standard for cross-border corporate payments? #BTC Price Analysis# #Macro Insights#
