#bitgetdetailssecurityincidenttimeline 🚨 BITGET REVEALS FULL SECURITY INCIDENT TIMELINE
Bitget has provided further details about the September 24 security incident, which affected part of its hot and warm wallet infrastructure.
⏰ 18:31 UTC, Sept. 24: Unauthorized transfers detected
🛑 Sept. 24: Withdrawals temporarily suspended
🔍 Sept. 25: Attack path identified and vulnerability remediated
💰 $387.5M: Revised total amount transferred to attacker-controlled addresses
🛡️ Cold wallets: Not affected
🏦 Protection Fund: Over $464M
📅 Sept. 28: BTC withdrawals began returning in phases
Bitget initially estimated the affected amount at $351.6M, but later revised it to approximately $387.5M after identifying additional assets on Zcash and TRON. Bitget says this revision reflects a more complete accounting of the original incident, not additional unauthorized transfers.
The exchange says the incident is contained, the underlying vulnerability has been fixed, and user account balances remain unaffected. Bitget is also working with cybersecurity firms Mandiant and SlowMist as the investigation continues.
Withdrawals are now being restored in phases, beginning with BTC, while additional assets and services are scheduled to return progressively through October 2.
🔥 The big question now:
Will the phased withdrawal restart help restore confidence in Bitget, or will traders remain cautious following the incident?
