In 2011, a bedroom mining rig that cost around $800 could produce roughly 1 $BTC per day. One Bitcoin. Every single day. Back then, Bitcoin mining looked completely different. Network difficulty was still tiny compared with today, competition between miners was much lower, and a few consumer GPUs could generate meaningful amounts of BTC from home. The crazy part is the context. In 2011, 1 $BTC was worth only a few dollars. Mining one coin per day sounded interesting, but hardly looked like the kind of opportunity that could change someone’s life years later. Today, Bitcoin mining has become a global industry filled with specialized ASIC machines, massive facilities, cheap-energy strategies and serious capital. That old $800 bedroom rig is a perfect reminder of how early Bitcoin really was. Sometimes the biggest opportunities look completely ordinary while they are happening.
