Bitget has now revised the estimated assets transferred to attacker-controlled wallets to $387.5M, up from the initial $351.6M. The increase reflects additional Zcash and TRON transfers identified during on-chain tracing â not a second attack.
Withdrawals remain suspended while Bitget completes security checks and prepares the restoration plan.
And this puts another major CEX security incident on the record.
But the largest exchange hack remains Bybitâs ~$1.5B theft in February 2025, which Reuters reported as the biggest crypto heist on record.
CEX hacked. Hundreds of millions gone. Withdrawals frozen.
BTC itself was NOT hacked.
The real question:
How many more CEX breaches before users seriously rethink where they store their crypto?
