đš $350 MILLION BITGET HACK⊠BUT THE PRIVATE KEYS WERENâT STOLEN?! đł
One of the biggest crypto exchange thefts of 2026 just happened.
Bitget confirmed that approximately $351.6 MILLION in assets were affected after unauthorized transfers from parts of its hot/warm wallet infrastructure.
Bitget +1
And hereâs the part that makes this hack especially interesting:
đ The private keys were NOT compromised, according to Bitget.
Instead, the attacker reportedly breached a critical backend wallet system, manipulated transfer information and triggered the exchangeâs own authorization process to move the funds.
The stolen assets reportedly included:
đ° 102.93M XRP â ~$157.5M
đ° 31,890 ETH â ~$85.8M
đ” 34.75M USDT
đ” 21.06M USDC
âŠand other assets.

But the hacker didnât stop there
đš Lookonchain reports that most of the stolen EVM-chain funds were converted into approximately 67,982 ETH, worth around $183 MILLION
Bitget says its cold wallets were unaffected and that its User Protection Fund, currently holding more than $464M, is sufficient to cover the affected funds.
Bitget
North Korean linked hackers have also been suspected, but the attribution is not yet a final confirmed finding.
đ Now watch $XRP and $ETH closely.
The attacker still controls a huge amount of crypto, so further on-chain movements could create volatility.
What do you think happens next?
Will the hacker move or sell the $ETH and $XRP, or will investigators manage to freeze/recover some of the funds? đ
â ïž Not financial advice. DYOR.
