Most people are looking at the recent drop and immediately thinking "short the bounce." I understand the logic, but after checking the data, I think that trade is becoming crowded.
OI flushed from ~518K to ~443K ZEC, while short accounts remain around 64%. Taker buy/sell is ~1.31, and OI is rebuilding. That's not ideal for chasing a short after a 4%+ drop.
24H, 48H and 1D show heavy liquidity above, especially $1,535-$1,585, while downside liquidity sits around $1,457-$1,410. ZEC has room for another upside squeeze before rejection.
Spot flow: 1H +1,343 ZEC, 4H +8,330, 1D +13,333. Large 1H/4H flows are positive, although 1D large flow remains -13,105 and 5D large flow -8,585. Short-term buyers are active, but bigger money isn't fully bullish.
Volume Profile/VWAP: VWAP ~$1,501, POC ~$1,520, MA30 ~$1,528. Reclaiming $1,520-$1,535 would improve the structure.
CVD/orderbook: Futures CVD +4.3M, spot CVD recovering, orderbook deltas positive, and taker buying leads. Not a clean short signal.
My bias: Slightly BULLISH on a deeper pullback, not bullish enough to chase.
The biggest concern is $BTC weakness and the bad macro data I explained earlier, so I won't repeat the reason. But I'm not comfortable shorting here because recent geopolitical developments can push risk assets higher. If those developments cool DXY, bond yields and oil, macro pressure can ease. That's why I think waiting for a deeper pullback + confirmation offers better RR than shorting after a 4%+ drop.
