→ Shinhan Financial Group plans to use Visa’s stablecoin platform to test issuance, remittances and redemptions while developing artificial intelligence-powered payment models for South Korea. The partnership is the first adoption of Visa’s enterprise stablecoin infrastructure by a top-tier South Korean financial group and will include pilots for card settlement and business payments.
→ Bridge founder Zach Abrams sees an opportunity for ‘tokenized local currencies’ across Asia.
→ Japanese regulators, the Bank of Japan and financial institutions plan to develop a national blockchain-based settlement system for stocks and government bonds, with work expected to begin by early 2027 and operations potentially starting in the early 2030s.
→ STS Digital Ltd CEO Maxime Seiler said “We're in crypto winter price-wise where we're in institutional summer,” whereby digital-asset prices have diverged from institutional adoption, with institutions continuing to build on crypto technology even as token prices have underperformed.
