💥 UAE royal backs 49% stake in Trump family-linked crypto bank venture
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAE’s national security adviser and brother of the country’s president, and co-investors reportedly hold a 49% stake in WLTC Holdings, the holding company behind World Liberty Financial’s planned U.S. national trust bank. The stake is held through StringZ Holding RSC.
The proposed bank is designed to support USD1, World Liberty Financial’s dollar-backed stablecoin, including issuance, redemption and custody, while also offering crypto custody and related services. USD1 currently has a market value of roughly $4 billion. The OCC has granted preliminary approval, but the bank still needs to satisfy additional requirements before it can begin operations.
The ownership structure is drawing political and ethical scrutiny because of Tahnoon’s position as a senior UAE government official and the Trump family’s connection to World Liberty Financial. The White House has rejected conflict-of-interest allegations, while lawmakers have called for greater scrutiny of the UAE-linked investment.
