I stopped scrolling when I saw a simple question about Dusk: can a blockchain stay private without giving up the trust that makes people use blockchains in the first place? 👀 @Dusk

My tea was getting cold, rain was tapping against the window, and I had three tabs open because apparently one wasn’t enough. 😭

My first reaction was, “Of course it can.” Then I caught myself assuming too much.

If confidential smart contracts hide sensitive financial information, that’s useful. A bank or institution probably doesn’t want every wallet watching its positions, agreements, or transaction details.

But blockchain trust usually comes from being able to verify what happened.

So there’s this strange middle ground.

You don’t necessarily need everyone to see the private data, but the network still needs a way to establish that the contract followed its rules and the transaction wasn’t manipulated.

I initially thought privacy and transparency were basically opposites.

Now I’m not so sure.$DUSK

Maybe the more interesting question is what kind of transparency remains when the sensitive information itself isn’t exposed. That feels especially important for Dusk because its whole idea revolves around confidential financial applications rather than simply adding privacy as a side feature.

I know I’m probably oversimplifying it, but that tension keeps bothering me.

If I can’t see what happened, but I can verify that it happened correctly
 is that enough for me to trust it? 😳#dusk
