I realized I was reading DUSK staking numbers too simply.
For a while, my thinking was basically: more DUSK staked = stronger network security. But then I went back to the Whitepaper and asked a more useful question:
What exactly is that stake securing?
Dusk uses a Proof-of-Stake consensus model where stakers, called Provisioners, participate in generating and validating blocks. Their stake is part of how participation is weighted in the protocol.
That tells us something important about consensus security and network participation.
But it doesn’t tell us everything.
A large staking figure doesn’t automatically mean every application running on Dusk has perfect logic, every external input is reliable, or every financial workflow built above the base layer will behave correctly.
I started thinking about it like a building. A strong foundation matters a lot, but it doesn’t guarantee that every room built on top of it was designed properly.
That distinction sounds obvious now, but I honestly didn’t think about staking this way at first.
So when I look at DUSK staking now, I’m less interested in asking only “how much is staked?” and more interested in what that stake actually protects.
When you evaluate Proof of Stake, do you separate consensus security from the security and trust assumptions of applications built above it?
