Dusk is one of those projects I've been quietly watching because the more I look at it, the less the privacy angle feels like the whole story. The interesting part is what Dusk is trying to do with privacy when the target users are financial institutions, where transparency, compliance, and confidentiality all have to exist at the same time.
That creates a much harder problem than simply hiding transactions.
With Dusk's XSC model, the idea is closer to making sensitive financial activity private without throwing away the rules around who can participate and what they can do. That's where I think the design becomes interesting. A regulated asset still needs restrictions, ownership logic, and some way to prove that transactions follow the rules. Privacy only becomes useful if those requirements can coexist.
But I keep coming back to the developer side.
DuskEVM could make the network easier to approach for developers who already understand Ethereum tooling and Solidity. That matters because even good infrastructure struggles if the learning curve becomes the first barrier. At the same time, I wouldn't assume EVM compatibility automatically brings the financial use cases Dusk is aiming for.
The real test is whether developers eventually use the deeper privacy capabilities rather than simply treating Dusk as another EVM environment.
That's also where the project has something to prove. Confidential financial infrastructure sounds valuable on paper, but institutions don't move systems just because the technology is interesting. They need reliability, predictable operations, compliance controls, liquidity, and enough ecosystem support to justify the switch.
So I'm not watching Dusk just to see whether its privacy technology works.
I'm watching to see whether that technology becomes something people actually need — especially in markets where exposing everything is a problem, but hiding everything isn't an option either.
