todays story is about the app at the top of the tower.... dusk trade, and the word that made me stop and think was "neobroker."
first, what our small holder sees. an app where you can buy money market funds, etfs, bonds, tokenized real world assets.... the boring, respectable instruments your bank sells you, except onchain. instant settlement, real ownership, and defi-grade composability underneath. structured to operate as a regulated mtf and investment platform under eu rules, so the licenses match the products.
but heres the part of the story worth slowing down for. what does a normal neobroker actually give you when you buy a share? an iou. a database entry saying the broker owes you one share, held in a chain of custodians youve never met. you dont own the share.... you own a claim on a company that owns a claim on a company that owns the share (we all learned how that story can go wrong, ask anyone who had shares "at" a broker that froze withdrawls)
dusk trade's version, the asset settles to YOU, onchain, with deterministic finality. real ownership isnt marketing language here, its the actual difference in the plumbing. the broker becomes a doorway instead of a vault.... you walk through it to the asset, but the asset lives in your hands, not thiers.
and the composability piece is the quiet revolution hiding inside the boring instruments. a money market fund you actually hold onchain can plug into other onchain machinery.... collateral, lending, structured products. your savings account learns to interoperate.
the question our small holder asks at the end, naturally.... if the broker holds nothing of mine, what exactly am i trusting them with? thats a genuinely new question for finance, and i love that it exists. more tommorow.
