There's a small piece tucked inside Dusk's design called Citadel, and honestly it caught my attention more than any of the speed or throughput claims did. It's basically a licensing system a way to prove you're allowed to do something without handing over your entire identity to do it.
That idea feels closer to how identity actually works in daily life. You don't show your full passport to buy a drink at a bar; you just prove you're old enough. Citadel seems to be chasing that same logic on-chain proving eligibility instead of exposing a person's full history every time. When a network builds that kind of selective proof directly into how it handles access, it stops feeling like a crypto gimmick and starts looking like something a bank, an exchange, or even a government office could plausibly use.
That's the part that makes it feel grounded rather than theoretical the idea isn't privacy for its own sake, it's privacy shaped around rules that already exist in the real world.
But building the tool is the easy half. Getting an actual licensing body, a bank, or a court system to trust and accept a cryptographic proof instead of a stamped document is a much slower, messier process. Adoption like that doesn't happen because the tech is clever it happens because enough people with authority decide to change how they verify things, and that kind of shift tends to take years, not a single release.
So I stay interested without getting swept up. A smart design solves one problem; the world catching up to it solves the rest. Small steps, steady curiosity, and always double-checking what's actually been proven versus what's just been promised.
