Went digging through Babylon's DeFiLlama page today expecting the usual multi-chain spread you see with restaking protocols — little bits of TVL scattered everywhere. Instead there's just one line. That single line kind of rewired how I think about infrastructure.

$BABY Babylon Protocol shows $2.61B total value locked this week, price still soft, down close to 10% over seven days per CoinGecko. But the TVL-by-chain breakdown lists exactly one entry: Bitcoin. Babylon (@BabylonLabs_io #baby ) secures Genesis and a growing list of outside networks — none of them show up holding a cent of that $2.61B.

Took a second to actually get why. Hmm — the capital itself never moves. Every chain Babylon backs just holds a verifiable claim against BTC that stays locked on Bitcoin the whole time, no matter how different the chain underneath. Assumed "shared security" meant the value actually spread out across the network. It doesn't. It stays put and gets pointed at, over and over.

Feels less like a multi-chain protocol and more like Bitcoin quietly turning into everyone else's collateral desk. Still not sure — is that a chain doing its job, or just a very large, very well-secured IOU with good PR?
