What If Future PoS Chains Stop Building Trust From Scratch?

At first I assumed every new blockchain had to earn its own security from scratch. Build enough validators, survive enough market cycles, and eventually the market would begin to trust it. That seemed like the natural path.

Over time, that assumption became harder to defend. Markets don't always reward rebuilding what already exists. They often reward finding better ways to coordinate around proven foundations. Creating trust is expensive, but reusing existing trust can be far more efficient.

That made me notice a hidden layer that rarely gets discussed: the cost of building security from zero. It's not just a technical challenge. It's an economic one. Every new network spends years trying to accumulate the credibility that a handful of systems have already earned through time, incentives, and resilience.

Seen through that lens, infrastructure decisions stop looking like engineering choices. They're really decisions about where trust originates and how it flows across ecosystems. The future may belong less to blockchains that repeatedly recreate security, and more to those that coordinate around security that already exists.
