Been staring at Babylon's slashing design, reminded me of my first liquidation in 2021, learned fast "secure" and "safe from loss" aren't the same thing lol. Babylon's pitch is letting BTC secure other chains without wrapping it, but that only works if bad validators get punished.
They built slashing around double-signing and downtime, plus unbonding periods acting like a cooldown before your BTC's fully free again. Annoying if you're used to instant unstaking, but it's what stops someone attacking then bailing before anyone reacts.
Real question is whether unbonding windows stay wide enough as more chains plug in, thin liquidity plus rushed exits gets messy fast. Not fully sold, just watching for actual slashing events and how fast unbonding clears on-chain. That's the real signal.
