RLUSD: the stablecoin playing its own game while the market dips

While $BTC (-$21.5M net outflows) and XRP (-$7.5M) bleed capital on July 20, $RLUSD is doing the opposite: +$4.1M in net inflows the same day. Clear signal — capital is rotating toward utility and stability rather than speculation.
What's shifting the picture:
📌 XRPL overtakes Ethereum — Since June 26, the XRP Ledger has surpassed Ethereum in RLUSD supply ($863.2M vs $676.1M, a 56%/44% split of ~$1.54B total). XRPL is up +11.7% since mid-June while Ethereum's side dropped -22.8%.
📌 Active supply management — Ripple burned 80M RLUSD tokens since July 6 against only 20M minted. Real monetary discipline, not unchecked inflation.
📌 Institutional momentum building — New partnerships with Mastercard, JPMorgan, OKX, and Ondo Finance for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger. Ripple Prime (the brokerage arm) saw revenue triple, partly driven by RLUSD integration.
📌 Regulatory tailwind — With MiCA fully kicking in across Europe in July 2026, non-compliant stablecoins are losing ground on regulated exchanges. RLUSD — fully backed 1:1 and audited monthly (custodian: BNY Mellon) — is well-positioned to catch that liquidity shift.
My take: XRP stays under short-term pressure, but the RLUSD infrastructure is quietly getting stronger. Worth watching: the finalization of the U.S. federal stablecoin rules.
