Why all markets are down?
Right now markets everywhere are falling because people are worried about the economy slowing down Let me explain this in a simple way with examples from Pakistan
What is a Tariff
A tariff is like a tax on products coming from other countries Imagine you run a small shop in Karachi and you sell imported mobile phones If the government suddenly adds a big tax on these phones their prices will go up and fewer people will buy them This means your business will slow down Now think of this happening on a bigger scale between countries when they put tariffs on each other’s products it makes trade more expensive and slows down businesses
What is Stagflation
Now imagine you are living in Lahore and you notice that everything around you is getting expensive like flour petrol electricity bills but at the same time people are not earning more money and businesses are not growing This is called stagflation which means prices keep going up but jobs and businesses do not improve It becomes harder for people to afford things and the whole economy struggles
Why Are Markets Falling
Because of these problems investors are scared They do not want to take risks when businesses are slowing down and inflation is high So they start selling their investments like stocks oil and cryptocurrency which makes prices drop even more This is why tech stocks are falling oil prices are down and even crypto is struggling
Basically markets are down because of high tariffs a slow economy and the fear of stagflation and this affects everyone including Pakistan because we also depend on global trade oil prices and investments
