Ponzi scheme is using money from earlier users to pay new users. However, Pi has never taken money or deposits from pioneers. Neither did it engage in pre-sale or ICO. Scam projects always do pre-sale or ICO, then rug pulled or bolt with depositors' funds. Pi Network didn't engage in any of those frauds. The fact that the coin was listed should at least give some assurances but, this didn't impress the nay Sayers and the haters.
