🏛️ The Big News:
💠 World Liberty Trust got preliminary OCC approval to become a national trust bank. If final requirements are met, it will replace BitGo as the exclusive custodian and issuer of World Liberty Financial’s $USD1 stablecoin!
🔄 Strategic Pivot: Stablecoin issuers are shifting away from third-party custodians to bring custody in-house under direct federal supervision.
🏦 Not a Full Bank:
🛡️ OCC Oversight: Subjects the trust to federal capital, liquidity, and risk rules.
🚫 No FDIC Insurance / No Fed Account: Bypasses intense banking debates and scrutiny, but $USD1 reserves won't have traditional deposit protections.
⚠️ What's Next: Transition depends on clearing remaining preopening conditions while navigating an uncertain regulatory landscape for stablecoins! ⏳
