#IranSaysItCapturedUSUnmannedSubmarine

🇮🇷 Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it captured an unmanned U.S. underwater vehicle (submersible) near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, calling it one of the most advanced autonomous systems used by the U.S. military.

🇺🇸 The United States has disputed that characterization, saying the vehicle was an older underwater drone that had malfunctioned more than a day earlier and did not carry classified sonar or radar equipment. U.S. officials say it was effectively non-operational when Iran recovered it.

🌍 The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf and renewed conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route, making the event significant for both regional security and oil markets.
