SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda revealed the agency dropped multiple crypto cases from the previous administration to avoid damaging its credibility. He said forcing SEC litigators to defend legal positions the commission was about to reverse would be untenable.

Uyeda described the move as necessary given the agency's planned 180-degree shift in how it interprets crypto regulations.

He also flagged the SEC's new Innovation Exemption for tokenized securities as a pilot program that could open doors for both crypto startups and traditional finance players.
