The U.S. Treasury said OFAC has designated Iran’s cryptocurrency, technology, gold, aviation and shipping sectors as sanctionable, allowing it to target any person or entity determined to operate in those sectors, regardless of location. OFAC also sanctioned nearly 60 Iran-linked entities, individuals and vessels. The Treasury said Ukrainian shipping broker Ivan Obukhov processed more than $100 million in cryptocurrency payments since 2023 to facilitate Iranian oil sales on behalf of the IRGC-Quds Force.
