When you first participate, you secure your $DGB and generate DigiDollars based on that collateral. Whenever you wish to retrieve your original assets, you simply repay those DigiDollars to open your vault. The DigiDollars that you submit are then burned and removed from circulation entirely, allowing your DGB to return safely under your own keys.

This direct relationship is the reason the overall circulating supply and the total locked amount constantly fluctuate in perfect sync. You will see these metrics presented on the dashboard, though the interface merely pulls this raw information directly from the blockchain. Furthermore, any individual operating a network node can search for this exact data and they will arrive at the very same numbers.

Throughout this entire cycle, there is never a counterparty involved at either end. The underlying principles that permit you to withdraw your assets are identical to the conditions that allowed you to enter, and these regulations are strictly upheld by every single node across the network.
