A hacked CEO account just turned into a fake memecoin ad — and Robinhood had to step in.
Robinhood confirmed CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was compromised and briefly posted a fake promotion for "Vladhood" ($VLAD), described as the official Robinhood Chain mascot, with false claims about expanding on the chain. The post was removed, and the team is working with X to restore access.
The incident comes as memecoin trading drives activity on Robinhood Chain, launched July 1. Cashcat ($CASHCAT), a memecoin based on the "Cash Cat" mascot, reportedly surged over 1,000% at times and has since lost about 50% in the last 7 days, trading near $0.04245. The chain has seen daily active users hit ~324,000 and DEX volume exceed $800 million in a day.
