A Bitcoin Block Has Been Found in Just a Few Seconds

On average, a new Bitcoin block is found about every 10 minutes. But it’s not a timer!

Mining is probabilistic: sometimes finding a valid hash takes much longer than 10 minutes, while at other times, the next block can be found just seconds after the previous one.

☝️ It’s a bit like a lottery: you can never know in advance which attempt will be successful. The more hashrate a miner has, the more “tickets” they can try every second.
