TRUMP IS SET TO MEET CRYPTO HEAVYWEIGHTS AT THE WHITE HOUSE 🇺🇸
On August 19, President Donald Trump is expected to meet leaders from the crypto and prediction-market industries at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, alongside CFTC Chair Michael Selig and SEC Chair Paul Atkins. Expected participants include Coinbase, a16z, Ripple, Chainlink, Kalshi, Paradigm and major financial organizations.
The meeting comes as the CLARITY Act remains stalled in the Senate, with further action expected in September. While Congress has yet to establish the proposed framework, the SEC and CFTC are already advancing their own digital-asset initiatives.
The gathering will also serve as a kickoff ahead of the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee's first meeting on August 20. The CFTC has identified three core areas: crypto and blockchain, AI, and prediction markets. The 35-member committee includes executives and leaders from Coinbase, Polymarket, Kalshi, Ripple, Nasdaq, CME and DTCC.
Prediction markets remain particularly contentious as the CFTC and several states continue to dispute jurisdiction over event contracts. Selig has argued for federal CFTC authority, while some states continue to treat sports and event-based products as matters within state jurisdiction.
The key issue is not simply what is announced after the meeting, but whether the White House can create new momentum for a federal crypto framework while the CLARITY Act remains delayed.
Can this meeting provide a fresh push for the CLARITY Act and America's broader crypto policy?
