According to CoinDesk, Layer-1 blockchain Aptos is integrating Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and data feeds. This integration is part of Aptos's participation in Chainlink's SCALE program. The announcement was made during a panel discussion at Consensus 2024 in Austin, Texas. The aim of this expansion is to assist developers on Aptos in building decentralized applications (dApps) on the network.
The collaboration will make Aptos the first Move-based blockchain to integrate Chainlink's services, according to a press release. As the number of independent blockchains increases, communication between these different networks is becoming a challenge for the digital asset economy. Chainlink is a key project that works on connecting these systems and streaming data between them and the outside world. For instance, Chainlink's CCIP software was instrumental in its partnership with SWIFT, a global closed banking messaging system.
Aptos, established by former employees of Meta, Facebook's parent company, is a blockchain that emphasizes low-cost transactions and high throughput. It was developed using the Move programming language, which was the foundation of Meta's discontinued crypto project, Diem. Bashar Lazaar, grants and ecosystem lead at Aptos Foundation, the organization supporting Aptos's ecosystem development, stated that joining the Chainlink SCALE program will provide developers on Aptos with increased access to Chainlink services. This will expand the toolkit of resources available on Aptos to help them build secure, scalable, and fully-featured dApps.
