The Generation Everyone Thinks Is Spending… Is Actually Saving.

We’ve talked about Gen Z trading less, looking for alternatives, and becoming increasingly interested in crypto. But here’s a side of the story that doesn’t get enough attention: Gen Z is saving more than many people assume.

Gen Z reportedly sets aside around 6-10% of their income each month, compared with roughly 1-5% for the general population. They’re also about 5% less likely than other generations to save nothing at all.
And I think this changes how we should look at their relationship with crypto. If young people are actually developing a stronger saving habit, their interest in crypto may not simply come from wanting quick profits. Some of them are building the financial habit first, then looking for places to put that money to work.
That distinction matters.
Saving creates the capital. Investing decides where that capital goes. And if Gen Z continues increasing its savings while becoming more financially educated, the amount of money they could eventually allocate to investments - including crypto - could grow significantly as their incomes increase.

But there’s another interesting possibility.
If Gen Z becomes better at saving and more comfortable with digital assets, they could normalize a financial behavior that older generations didn't grow up with: saving money and investing it across both traditional and digital markets from the very beginning.
So maybe the Gen Z story isn't “young people want to get rich quickly.”
Maybe it's “young people are learning to save early, and they're deciding for themselves what comes next.”

And with that, I think we can close this series on a pretty important thought: The future of crypto isn't just about what Gen Z buys. It's about how Gen Z learns to manage money. 🧠📈
