Many people enter the crypto world with grand ideals, just like I did:
After finishing Ayn Rand's novels, I was filled with the fervor of liberalism, and I even donated to Gary Johnson in 2016. The spirit of crypto-punk, the concept of Bitcoin as a 'private bank for the rich,' and the image of crossing borders with a billion dollars in assets made me believe this was a tool to change the world.

So I dove in headfirst and dedicated myself full-time.
A few years later, I woke up to the realization: I wasn't building a new financial system; I was opening a super casino.
A casino that doesn't admit it is a casino, yet operates 24 hours a day, with people playing simultaneously from around the globe, the largest casino in history.

The promotion was extravagant: decentralized, replacing banks, transferring a billion dollars in seconds.
The reality, however, is that all the funds flowed into the arms race of the next generation of Layer 1, Aptos, Sui, Sei, ICP... The war of 2020 proved that in the end, there was only one winner—Solana.
Now everyone tacitly ranks Solana fourth (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and everyone else is just running along).
Hundreds of billions of dollars in market value were piled up, VCs wrote long articles of 5000 words discussing grand visions, but in the end, the money of retail investors and VCs was burned out, leaving everyone with emptier pockets in the new financial system.

We need to see what they do, not what they say.
The incentive structure has twisted everything into a gambling game, and ideals have been harshly slapped by reality.

I am proud that at least I built this casino in my twenties and made quite a bit of money.
But at the same time, I feel that the most precious ten years of my life have been wasted on this.

Cryptocurrency indeed has the potential to change the world; I still believe that to this day.
It's just that the current path has gone astray.
Perhaps one day, it will return to its original track.
Until then, I must first admit: what we built is not a new world, just a larger, faster casino.
