I’ve been digging into tokenized finance lately and honestly the biggest takeaway isn't speed or yield it’s privacy. Or rather the total lack of it.
Don't get me wrong open blockchains are great for verification. Being able to track wallet flows, inspect pool liquidity, and see what a protocol is doing in real-time is amazing compared to traditional finance. But that level of transparency completely falls apart once you bring institutional money into the mix. No fund or market maker is going to use a public ledger if every single position change, swap, or rebalance is visible to competitors the second it hits the mempool.
This is basically why Dusk Network caught my attention. They’re building a Layer 1 specifically for regulated finance with privacy baked into the base layer instead of slapped on as a band aid. Features like Phoenix for private transactions/contracts, XSC for confidential execution, and Zedger for security token compliance are solid on paper.
That said I’m not wearing rose colored glasses here. Privacy adds huge engineering overhead, and tech alone doesn't guarantee liquidity dev activity or regulatory buy in.
At the end of the day Dusk’s success won't come down to TPS or fancy bench marking. It comes down to one simple question. can they give institutions verifiably settlement without forcing them to dox their whole trading strategy? If they pull that off, privacy stops being a gimmick and actually becomes the baseline for RWA.
