Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has become a minority shareholder in payment provider MoneyGram International, Cointelegraph reported. SDF CEO and executive director Denelle Dixon said the decision to fund MoneyGram was "very easy." Dixon added that the investment was made through SDF's own cash pool using assets set aside to support the foundation's operations, rather than using the Stellar Enterprise Fund to invest in startups and early-stage companies. Dixon did not disclose financial details, but she did say that the investment gave SDF a seat on the MoneyGram board of directors. She explained that SDF's investment will contribute to MoneyGram by expanding its digital business and exploring blockchain technology. The Stellar Development Foundation entered into a commercial partnership with MoneyGram in 2021 and has been working with the company on tools and technology since 2019.
