Senator Elizabeth Warren introduced a bill aimed at preventing the use of Russian cryptocurrency under sanctions
Senator Elizabeth Warren introduced a new law aimed at preventing the use of cryptocurrency in Russia.
According to The Block, the law requires the White House to compile a report on all crypto service providers that have any connection to Russia. It also gives the Treasury broad powers to ban cryptocurrency service providers and exchanges from transacting with any addresses associated with Russia.
The legislation states that such entities are defined as “any person or group of persons who materially facilitate the purchase, sale, lending, borrowing, exchange, custody, verification or creation of digital assets through decentralized finance technology, smart contracts or other software, including open source computer code.”
