The Bank of Russia has identified violations at Qiwi Bank, which belongs to the payment service provider Qiwi. As a result, users of the platform services lost access to a number of operations. Information about the problems of Qiwi Bank appeared on the company’s official website.
Qiwi has limited transfers from its wallets at the request of the Bank of Russia. The changes, which company representatives call “temporary and partial,” took effect on July 26, 2023.
Here are the limitations platform clients encountered:
• Transfers to cards and accounts of other credit institutions are limited to 1000 rubles per month.
• Transfers through the Faster Payment System have become unavailable.
• You cannot withdraw cash from Qiwi cards.
• Transfers from Qiwi through the Contact system have stopped working.
Also, due to restrictions, platform clients lost access to loan repayments. The exception is loans from microfinance organizations.
Restrictions do not apply to replenishing accounts of mobile operators, transfers to other electronic wallets, payments for services, games and goods, and payments with Qiwi cards. Also, the changes did not affect acquiring clients and users who make payments to third-party accounts of legal entities.
Qiwi noted that they are in touch with the regulator and are working to eliminate the shortcomings that caused the blocking of operations.#Qiwi
