The Litecoin network, a fork of Bitcoin created in 2011, has implemented its third mining reward halving.

Halving is a process in a cryptocurrency network that reduces the reward given to miners for each block that verifies transactions and adds them to the ledger by 50%. Both Litecoin and Bitcoin have this feature, with halvings being implemented approximately every four years.

The change reduced the LTC reward per block from 12.5 LTC to 6.25 LTC.
