Argentinian cryptocurrency influencer Fernando Perez Algaba, who had been missing for more than a week, was finally found dead on Wednesday, in a tragedy that shook many.
The crypto millionaire was tragically found dismembered in a suitcase, according to a report from the New York Post. The story shook many people when children found a red suitcase in ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires Province, and were shocked to find that inside it were the body parts of the late Algaba.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found several parts of Algaba's body in the suitcase, including legs and arms. Meanwhile, another arm is found in the river. The search continued, and on Wednesday, July 26, authorities managed to find the victim's head and body.
Although the motive behind Algaba's murder has not been revealed, police suspect that the perpetrator had knowledge of amputation procedures, considering the clean wounds on the victim's body. The autopsy carried out also revealed that before being dismembered, Algaba was shot three times.
Algaba, who was 41 years old, had an impressive entrepreneurial background before his death. He managed a luxury car and jet ski rental company in Miami, United States, before finally deciding to move to Barcelona, Spain, in early 2023. Since the age of 14, Algaba has been actively working with various businesses, from selling sandwiches to being involved in business of buying and selling repaired vehicles.
Algaba's persistent efforts seem to have paid off, because at the age of 24, he has become an entrepreneur with a large warehouse filled with a collection of luxury cars, jet skis, and motorbikes. This impressive journey was recorded 10 years earlier. Her popularity has grown through her Instagram profile, which has now attracted over 900,000 followers. Most of the content consists of photos of Algaba posing with impressive luxury cars.
Apart from being a successful entrepreneur in the luxury vehicle rental business, Algaba is also known as a crypto trader. He manages his office in Buenos Aires which has 25 employees. Algaba has not only achieved financial success through his vehicle rental business, but also through cryptocurrency trading activities which have earned him millions.
Investigating Suspicious Possibilities Related to Algaba's Murder
Apparently, Algaba is facing financial challenges, especially regarding his company called "Motors Lettuce SRL." Less than a year after it was founded in January 2018, the company experienced a bounced check. These conditions led to the accumulation of so-called “irrevocable” debts to tax agents in Argentina.
Apart from financial problems, Algaba also reportedly had problems with the Barra Bravas gang who demanded a $40,000 loan from him. In the message he sent, the victim even warned that if something happened to him, everyone would have been notified. Algaba also revealed that he had lost a lot of money due to investments in the world of cryptocurrencies.
Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder case, while the investigation is still ongoing.
