It has been 8 years since the Ethereum genesis block was born on July 30, 2015. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) also celebrated Ethereum’s birthday on Twitter and revealed that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was in Tokyo in May of that year I once stayed in his apartment while traveling.

CZ looked back on not investing in ETH even when Vitalik talked endlessly about it. He lamented the missed opportunity, but also believed that this gave him more motivation to build Binance in the following years.

Changpeng Zhao: Missed investment in ETH in 2015

CZ tweeted a photo of him with Vitalik, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake and others, emphasizing that this was the first time he had made this photo public. He said:

On May 2, 2015, before ETH was born, Vitalik stayed in my apartment during his trip to Tokyo. He had been studying and talking about ETH at that time, but I still missed ETH. If I missed it at that time, I would miss it for a lifetime. But then again, if I had bought ETH, I might not have had the need or motivation to start Binance, who knows?

CZ also called on everyone to work harder and not miss this opportunity again:

I was wearing many hats at the time. Life doesn't give you many opportunities, but there are many. Work hard and don't miss a second chance.

CZ and Vitalik have known each other for nearly ten years

CZ responded below the tweet with more details.

Was there any crazy party when so many people gathered together? CZ revealed that Vitalik is quite boring, but he himself seems to be the same person, and even worse.

Additionally, he expects that by December of this year, he and Vitalik will have known each other for nearly a decade.

Some communities believe that Vitalik is a practitioner of the concept of decentralization and is contrary to CZ’s ideas.

CZ means:

Centralized exchanges (CEX) and DeFi are not in conflict. Both have their own risks and problems, but in the long run DeFi will win, and Binance has also invested heavily in the DeFi field.
