FTX founder SBF orchestrated a massive multi-billion dollar fraud. Although he denied his wrongdoing, it will be up to the court to decide whether he is a criminal or a "poor" businessman (claiming that his bank account balance is only $100,000). According to bankruptcy documents and 12 publicly disclosed purchase lists, SBF and his inner circle spent nearly $540 million on thought leaders, clubs, real estate, media, NFTs, and e-sports league sponsorships. The most expensive consumption was the title sponsorship of the e-sports club Team SoloMid, which cost as much as $210 million.

Here is a partial shopping list for SBF:

1. Team SoloMid FTX (US$210 million)

Team SoloMid is a Los Angeles-based esports organization that has set a world record in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament. FTX acquired the naming rights to TSM and has now dropped "FTX" from its name.

2. Miami Heat Arena Naming Rights ($135 million)

FTX sponsored the Miami Heat’s arena in a 19-year, $135 million naming rights deal, which was later terminated by a Delaware bankruptcy court judge.

3. League of Legends Championship Series ($96 million)

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, signed a seven-year League of Legends (LCS) sponsorship agreement with FTX, with the sponsorship fee increasing year by year until the total amount reaches $96 million in 2028. However, with the bankruptcy of FTX, Riot Games asked the court to terminate the contract early on the grounds of "damage to reputation".

4. The Orchid Penthouse (US$30 million)

This is the 11,500-square-foot hangout for SBF and his inner circle at the Albany Club, a luxury resort in the Bahamas.

5. 101 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs ($24.4 million)

The 101 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs contain 101 images of apes with different clothing, accessories, and facial expressions, and are being auctioned by Sotheby's.

6. Comedian Larry David's Super Bowl ad ($20 million)

Larry David, the star of the American comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, expressed his signature skepticism in a 60-second Super Bowl ad in 2022 by playing a character who denies some of the most important inventions in human civilization (such as the wheel, the Declaration of Independence, the light bulb, the Walkman, the battery, etc.), and finally comes to the role of FTX, and the ad ends with "Don't Like Larry, Don't Miss Out on The Next Big Thing". At the same time, the ad also includes a Bitcoin giveaway.

7. Digital bank Moonstone Bank ($11.5 million in equity)

Moonstone Bank, a rural bank in Washington (which had only three employees when SBF created the account), has changed its name to the original Farmington State Bank, claiming it is "returning to its original mission."

8. Media Semafor ($10 million)

The company, a media startup that promises “transparency in journalism” and “refined opinion,” plans to return the investment.

9. Luxury Yacht "Soak my Deck" ($2.5 million)

SBF's hedge fund Alameda Research has purchased a 52-foot yacht for its former co-CEO Sam Trabucco.

10. Tesla ($136,000)

In May 2022, KOL @greg left a message to SBF, saying, "Can I buy him a car if I can type more than 100 words per minute?" Later, @greg received a positive answer from SBF and was given a Tesla Model S Plaid version. After receiving it, he tweeted, "This is the craziest day of my life."

11. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Resort ($59,000)

Alameda Research owes about $55,000 to the Margaritaville Beach Resort founded by American country rock singer Jimmy Buffett.

12. Congressman George Santos ($29,000)

SBF provided campaign contributions to the Long Island candidate for a House seat, who is known for exaggerating facts and wire fraud allegations. But George Santos has denied wrongdoing and counts FTX as his largest corporate backer.
