Highlights:

  • Binance has been committed to educating the crypto community for free since the company's inception in 2017.

  • In addition to facilitating access to educational resources and services, we have also launched several key initiatives that have benefited both new learners and cryptocurrency users.

  • We tell you how we help everyday users, university students, policy makers and authorities understand blockchain, Web3 and cryptocurrencies.

From educating millions of learners in over 20 languages to supporting regulatory bodies, here's a list of things Binance has done to advance cryptoliteracy.

One of the key mantras of the crypto sector is “do your own research”, which means that one must conduct due diligence to make informed decisions before investing in an asset or joining a project. It's simple, right? But where do you have to go to understand what a token is, its usefulness, the team that supports it, the technology that supports it and what it can contribute?

In a world where information can be imperfect, biased and difficult to understand, it is complex to navigate the fragmented landscape of knowledge to learn on your own. Things get even more complicated when you consider the number of sponsored posts and marketing messages that may not present the unbiased information you need to conduct your research.

At Binance, we believe that cryptocurrency and blockchain education is critical to fueling adoption. And it's not just aimed at cryptocurrency traders and investors. We have also been working with governments, regulators, policymakers and authorities to develop their understanding of the technology, as they all play an increasingly important role in the broader digital asset ecosystem. Wondering how we're working with them? Our actions speak louder than words. Find out what we're doing to further boost crypto education around the world.

Binance content that prioritizes education

Binance has its own opinion on how education should be delivered, and almost all of the content we publish is aimed at educating the reader in one way or another. Did you see the launch of a new product? It is a product that could help someone improve their trading strategy. Did you see a tweet about an exciting partnership? It's our way of keeping you at the forefront. Whether we're talking about a new campaign, discussing real-world use cases, or sharing an exclusive Binance interview, we want the reader to walk away with useful learning.

Take a look at any week of our content. Take, for example, the week of July 4 to July 11, 2022: more than 3.2 million people accessed some Binance content, resulting in almost ten million page views. Even if we just share a fact, idea, or update, we're already educating people on a massive scale every week. Our reach is tremendous, and we are proud to say that our efforts to deliver crypto knowledge to everyone for free are paying off.

Binance Academy, a free crypto knowledge bank

Since its launch in 2018, Binance Academy has been the jewel in our educational crown. It is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive online collections of blockchain and cryptocurrency material. It contains nearly 400 articles ranging from quick tutorials to in-depth articles on all types of topics, such as blockchain fundamentals, complex economic theories and trading strategies, accessible to anyone.

How exactly does Binance Academy help its readers?

We spoke to our readers to find out how Binance Academy has impacted them personally. In addition to learning practical skills such as creating a MetaMask wallet and exploring risk reduction strategies, our readers have learned the fundamentals of interacting with digital assets and becoming part of the crypto community through Binance Academy.

We have also learned that our free information has been used to prepare job applications and interviews with Web3 and blockchain companies. Even some people who have been interviewed here on Binance have done it.

During that same week in July 2022, approximately 630,000 users accessed Binance Academy, recording nearly three million page views.

Binance Academy's milestones in numbers

We are incredibly proud of the coverage and reach Binance Academy has gained over the past four years. These are the figures:

  1. Binance Academy serves millions of learners around the world in over 20 languages.

  2. Binance's free learning center is number one in terms of size in the entire cryptocurrency information space.

  3. To date, we have published nearly 400 articles and 300 glossary entries that help people get familiar with the digital asset space globally.

  4. We have published over 90 videos explaining key concepts, context, and best practices in the blockchain world.

  5. From July 2021 to June 2022, our articles and glossary entries have been accessed 116,649,972 times, and readers have spent a cumulative 406 years reading our content.

And every day we expand this repository of knowledge and work to make it even more accessible and navigable for everyone. Catch up on the wealth of cryptocurrency knowledge at Binance Academy!

Binance “Learn and Earn”

A key skill for anyone in the cryptocurrency space is knowing how to properly research digital asset projects. So while Binance Academy has always provided top-notch information and research strategies, we thought something more specific was needed: Binance's Learn and Earn proposition. We launched this cryptocurrency education program to encourage users to develop specific skills needed to conduct their own research while earning rewards for doing so.

Hosted on Binance Academy, our “Learn and Earn” articles and short videos present key facts about the projects and familiarize readers with the types of information they should look for. A simple quiz at the end tests basic understanding of the project and, more importantly, empowers readers to analyze and pick out key information.

So far, 3.1 million people have completed our Learn and Earn courses. We have also distributed a total of $5.2 million in token rewards. Although we believe that knowledge is a reward in itself, we are working on a sustainable channel of campaigns like "Learn and Earn" to help our students acquire their first cryptocurrency and participate in promising platforms and projects.

Courses and university partnerships powered by Binance

Online educational courses

In this day and age, online educational content has the potential to reach anyone with Internet access. It's an incredibly powerful tool, which is why we've chosen this medium as the home for our free blockchain courses launching later this year. To leverage diverse perspectives and provide unbiased information, we will launch weekly educational webinars and publish content from experts outside of Binance.

We will be launching our courses in 14 languages starting October 2022. These courses offer personalized, trackable and structured blockchain and cryptocurrency education to all our users. In 2023, Binance Academy will also build on this medium to launch courses with professional certificates. These courses aim to train interested students and equip them with skills and knowledge for a professional career in the crypto and Web3 space.

Stay tuned for these upcoming announcements.

Collaboration with universities

Binance is no stranger to collaborative work with universities. Last year, Binance Charity, our philanthropic arm, partnered with UC Berkeley to support their Big Ideas contest. Big Ideas is a massive educational support ecosystem serving approximately 300,000 participating students annually.

This year, Binance will continue to expand its relationships with some of the world's best universities, governments and industry associations to offer structured education with globally recognized professional certifications.

As part of Binance's Global Education Initiative, we are reaching out to the world's best universities to build curricula and help educate the blockchain users, builders, and professionals of tomorrow, both in the United States and abroad. Starting this season, students will have the opportunity to attend Binance workshops, hackathons, and other events.

We are also identifying historically African American colleges and universities in the higher education sector in the United States that provide access to education to communities that have been underrepresented and underserved in the past.

Binance Charity Foundation

The same spirit that drives our support of underrepresented communities fuels Binance Charity Foundation's push to advance blockchain education in a meaningful way.

Binance Charity is dedicated to unlocking Web3 as a powerful tool for social change by improving financial inclusion and making its education and training accessible to all. In addition to providing humanitarian support with direct cryptocurrency donations, Binance Charity's key focus is on creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds to study blockchain, develop their skills, and build the future.

Through our Binance Scholar program, we offer scholarships to ambitious and passionate individuals from disadvantaged communities to study blockchain courses at the world's leading universities, vocational colleges and university institutes. We believe that the future of Web3 is for everyone, and financial barriers should not stop people from gaining knowledge.

In addition to this, we are helping people acquire the skills they need to secure meaningful employment in the crypto and blockchain environment outside of conventional education. This is achieved by funding and launching free vocational training programs in communities around the world. For example, Binance Charity recently announced a partnership with IT-Generations led by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, a project that funds scholarships for displaced Ukrainians. One million dollars in BUSD was donated to provide 1,000 technology scholarships to help people gain new skills after losing their jobs during the conflict in Ukraine.

Likewise, we are working with educational partners to offer free programs in other parts of Europe, Africa and Latin America. Last week we announced a quarter-million-dollar partnership with technology education leader Simplon.co to offer workshops and training to 10,000 students from disadvantaged areas in France.

Lastly, we are partnering with leading academic institutions to produce research reports and white papers, as well as fund innovation programs to help shape the future of the blockchain industry. For example, Binance Charity is proud to support UC Berkeley's Lab for Inclusive FinTech (LIFT), an innovative research partnership that leverages a diverse network of researchers and practitioners. Together, this network will improve the design, reach, and effectiveness of blockchain technologies to promote the financial health and resilience of marginalized communities, as well as address the most pressing development issues of vulnerable populations, including refugees.

Binance's active role in the regulatory landscape

Normative compliance

In addition to shedding light on the nature of the relationship between digital assets and sanctions, Binance has also been supporting the work of law enforcement agencies around the world. The Binance Security team has helped not only solve financial crime cases but also educate officials on how to address digital crime in Brazil, the Philippines, and other locations.

Binance employs some of the world's leading cybercrime experts. By organizing workshops and participating in conferences around the world, we have significantly strengthened authorities' understanding and responsiveness to cybercrime.

Regulation

Binance's approach to educating officials on digital assets is not solely focused on protecting people from crime. Another critical component of this push is helping governments develop effective regulatory frameworks. Working closely with authorities around the world, Binance uses its deep knowledge and experience to help create robust cryptocurrency and blockchain regulation. Clear rules are essential to advancing mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain, and Binance is more than happy to provide what is needed.

Innovation for the future

Looking ahead, we believe that the adoption of cryptocurrencies and the development of blockchain and Web3 technologies are still in their early stages. To accelerate these processes, Binance is investing in long-term education, whether it's funding academic research at some of the world's best universities or designing our free online courses for interested learners. Through hackathons and incubation programs, Binance is helping new entrepreneurs build decentralized applications that will bring more than one billion new users to Web3 in the next five years.

So whether you're interested in the metaverse, NFTs, mining, trading, DeFi, or the next crypto product, Binance is here to help you do your own research as you prepare to dive right in.

Remember: education is everything.
