Grand Theft Auto has followed Minecraft in banning third-party online servers from using NFTs. Its developer Rockstar Games confirmed in a statement last week that developers cannot integrate crypto assets such as cryptocurrencies or NFTs. The new rules are specifically for role-playing servers. Think of them as spin-offs of the original GTA 5, created not by Rockstar Games but by fans and developers. They expand on how players can play in the standard game, allowing them to take on the role of normally non-playable characters such as police officers, judges or taxi drivers. The company stressed that it still supports these servers despite the new restrictions. It also prohibits the importation or misuse of other IP in the project, including Rockstar's other IP, real brands, characters, trademarks or music; making new games, stories, missions or maps.
