๐Milwaukee's 2% sales tax approved!๐
City services have been saved from a potential fiscal cliff! The Milwaukee Common Council has voted to implement a 2% sales tax, which should help the city avoid major operational cuts in 2025. Before taking effect, the Milwaukee County Board of Advisors may also approve an additional sales tax.
Quick facts:
- Current sales tax: 5.5% (5% state + 0.4% county)
- New sales tax: 7.5% (adding city 2%)
- Possibly more increases soon๐
The good news? The earliest this change could take effect is Jan 1, 2024, giving us time to plan and adjust.
