What is Theta Fuel (TFUEL)?
Theta Fuel (TFUEL) is one of two native tokens on the Theta blockchain. Unlike Theta Token (THETA), TFUEL acts as a utility token in decentralized video and data transmission and also assumes the role of a gas token. The Theta blockchain’s governance token is THETA, backed by community-run Guardian nodes and enterprise validators including Google, Binance, Blockchain Enterprise, Gumi, and Samsung.
TFUEL has multiple uses on the Theta blockchain and is used to support a variety of operations such as paying relayers for sharing video streams, fees for deploying and interacting with smart contracts, and as an implementation related to NFT and DeFi applications Cost of operation. In addition, TFUEL is used as an incentive for users in the ecosystem, encouraging them to share redundant computing power as edge computing nodes and provide bandwidth resources as edge caching nodes for video streams and other data.

Who is the creator of Theta Fuel?
Theta Fuel, and the entire Theta ecosystem, was co-founded in 2017 by Mitch Liu and Jieyi Long. Mitch Liu has a long history in the gaming, video and virtual reality industries, having co-founded video advertising company Tapjoy, mobile social company Gameview Studios and live streaming platform THETA.tv. THETA.tv’s DApp is the first application built on the Theta protocol.
Jieyi Long is Theta's second co-founder and chief technology officer, with years of experience in automation, gaming, virtual reality, and the design of large-scale distributed systems. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed academic papers and holds multiple patents in the areas of video streaming, blockchain, and virtual reality.
Currently, Theta has a moderately sized team. Strategic corporate investors listed on its official website include Samsung NEXT, Sony Innovation Fund, media investor BDMI Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, and traditional investors including DCM, Sierra Ventures and VR Fund. Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
What is unique about Theta Fuel?
Theta’s main use cases include decentralized video streaming, data transfer and edge computing, aiming to increase efficiency, reduce costs and achieve fairness for industry participants. The network runs on a native blockchain and has two native tokens, Theta (THETA) and Theta Fuel (TFUEL), used to drive the internal economy.
The Theta platform has a triple appeal: viewers can enjoy higher quality streaming services, content creators can increase revenue, and middlemen (video platforms) can save infrastructure construction costs and increase advertising and subscription revenue. Users are incentivized to watch web content and share web resources as rewards are provided in the form of TFUEL tokens.
The platform is open source and token holders have governance rights, similar to many proof-of-stake (PoS)-based blockchain ecosystems. In addition to video, data and computing, Theta also caters to developers looking to launch decentralized applications (DApps) such as DeFi and NFTs on its fully-featured EVM-compatible smart contract platform.
How many coins are in circulation for Theta Fuel (TFUEL)?
As mentioned before, there are two tokens in the Theta ecosystem: THETA and TFUEL. Both currencies serve as the primary interoperability tools on the Theta blockchain, but have different functions.
Currently, there are 5,232,675,200 TFUEL tokens in circulation, and the amount in circulation is growing every year as new TFUEL is generated through staking rewards. In contrast, the supply of Theta tokens is fixed, with 1,000,000,000 tokens in circulation, and will never increase.
Theta uses a proof-of-stake algorithm, which means staking is possible. As THETA's circulation reaches its maximum supply, TFUEL is generated through staking rewards on the network. To be eligible to stake, you must stake at least 1,000 THETA to a Guardian node or run your own Guardian node.
How to ensure the security of Theta network?
The Theta blockchain uses a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm, but introduces a multi-level Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus mechanism on its blockchain to achieve stronger security and higher transaction throughput.
When Theta mainnet launched in March 2019, Guardian Nodes were introduced. Through the existence of guardian nodes, no single entity can control the majority of staked THETA tokens at any time, further enhancing the decentralized nature of the network. This helps the Theta network achieve high transaction throughput of up to 1000+ TPS.
Theta also uses a financial incentive program to ensure that users actively participate in governance activities so that the network is protected and supported by users.
