Japanese gaming giant Sony Interactive Entertainment's previous patent for studying how to integrate NFTs and blockchain into its games has been rejected for failing to "integrate abstract concepts into practical applications." The patent was filed last year and the World Intellectual Property Organization published details of the patent last week, which outlines claims for techniques and technologies for creating, modifying, tracking, verifying and/or transmitting unique digital assets related to video games, including in-game items and characters. Sony has previously explored the use of blockchain technology for music copyright management and education. (The Block)
