Mask Network is not only a bridge connecting Web2 and Web3, it is also a middleware network in the #SocialFi field. Now, Mask Network has developed its own unique ecosystem!
Initially, Mask Network was a browser plug-in that integrated many popular Web3 dApp functions on Web2 platforms (such as Twitter and Facebook), covering DeFi, NFT, cross-chain, and encrypted tweets.
However, with Vitalik’s post on March 28th syncing to Farcaster and Lens via#Fireflyand calling for support for Firefly, people began to take a keen interest in the story of Vitalik, Firefly, Mask Network, and SocialFi!
1. Firefly:
Firefly is a Web3 social aggregation application created by Mask Network. It allows users to synchronize posts to multiple platforms or browse information from multiple social services with one click, just like Vitalik Buterin. More importantly, Firefly gives users a decentralized identity.
Second, Mask Network:
As a middleware, Mask Network has some functions similar to Firefly, but its role is much more than that. Mask Network is the driving force behind Firefly and has close ties with Vitalik Buterin.
Mask Network is gradually building its own ecosystem, and its investment arm has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to support the development of decentralized networks and infrastructure. More than 100 projects have joined the Mask Network ecosystem, including Lens and Scroll.
Mask Network is about to start token staking, which means we will have the opportunity to receive airdrops and other benefits from ecological projects.
At the same time, Lens founder Stani Kulechov also said on Twitter that Lens can be used with Firefly!
3. SocialFi:
The potential and importance of SocialFi (socialized finance) are self-evident. In the Web2 world, social platforms like Facebook hold all the data and money. They make money through advertising, and our personal information is used as a transaction.
SocialFi changes all that. It is a social way of Web3, allowing ordinary users to make money through social activities. All this is thanks to blockchain technology, which ensures that everyone can get rewards fairly. If Web2 allows us to share information, then SocialFi allows us to share value and convert likes and reposts into actual benefits.
4. Vitalik + Firefly + Mask Network:
In 2020, Mask Network was still in its early stages, but Vitalik Buterin had already seen its potential and spoke out for its red envelope product on Twitter. This early support greatly encouraged the team.
In 2022, Vitalik Buterin talked about the future with Suji Yan, the founder of Mask Network, and their tacit interaction brought warmth to people.
In 2024, Vitalik once again spoke out for Mask Network's new product Firefly. His call immediately triggered a warm response from the market, and the price of $MASK soared overnight.
Meanwhile, Farcaster has reached a valuation of $1 billion. Although Vitalik often praises Farcaster, he uses Firefly, owned by Mask Network, more frequently. Firefly provides a smoother experience than Farcaster, which is why Vitalik ultimately chose Firefly as his favorite product. Under the leadership of Suji Yan, Mask Network is surpassing Animoca Brands and becoming the new king in the social track.
V. Summary:
The SocialFi field becomes popular again every once in a while because of the birth of a new product. Although there is no absolute champion in this field yet, the current weak state of the $ETH ecosystem provides an excellent breakthrough for the social track.
