HyperPlay, a Web3 native game launcher and game store aggregator, has raised $12 million in a Series A round co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners, BITKRAFT Ventures and MetaMask's parent company ConsenSys.
Investors in the funding round include Ethereal Ventures, Delphi, Game7, Mirana Ventures, Monoceros Ventures and others. HyperPlay founder JacobC.eth said the company will use this fund to strengthen its products and grow globally.
Launched last November by Metamask and web3 gaming DAO, Game7, HyperPlay aims to build a platform that puts developers and users first. The game launcher will not charge a platform fee for the in-game economy, instead it monetizes optional features like on-ramping or token swaps. The game launcher went live in March.
HyperPlay also supports all EVM-compatible chains, allowing players to bring their wallets, tokens and NFTs to any native game or browser. By integrating an additional layer of in-game wallet, HyperPlay's launcher takes away the need for users to exit the game and instead navigates to a separate website for NFT transactions.
“We are impressed with HyperPlay's developer-first approach, which makes it the Web3 game launcher of choice. HyperPlay gives game developers the freedom to deploy on any chain they choose, while allowing players to bring their wallets, NFTs, tokens, and achievements into every game. This feature sets HyperPlay apart from other competitors in the market as the launcher offers exclusive usability and convenience to users. We can imagine a world where HyperPlay will be available across mobile platforms and web2 games.”
Malte Barth, Partner at BITKRAFT Ventures, commented.
While HyperPlay supports games on all chains supported by MetaMask, the platform has hinted at upcoming features designed specifically for Mantle L2, an Ethereum-first scaling solution for the gaming sector.
The Series A announcement took place ahead of Game7's 3XP Games Expo from June 8 to 9. Held at the Pasadena Convention Center, the event aimed to bring together publishers, brands and the most prominent thought leader in the web2 and web3 gaming space. Speakers at the event included Ava Labs head of gaming Ed Chang; Magic Eden game director Chris Akhavan; Animoca Brands VP of Product Sean Dudley, among others.
HyperPlay's game store currently offers more than 33 Web3 titles, and developers interested in bringing their games to HyperPlay can sign up here.
