The Bedrock upgrade of the Optimism mainnet is coming soon, and this latest upgrade will lay the foundation for it to eventually become a super chain.
Simply put, a hyperchain is a set of chains that share a software stack and have the same security properties, enabling them to communicate and work together. The implementation of Bedrock will significantly reduce transaction fees and shorten deposit times to less than a minute. Optimism CEO and co-founder Karl Floersch said a two-step withdrawal process will also be introduced to ensure maximum security.
It is reported that Bedrock is a new generation of decentralized Rollup infrastructure developed by OP Labs, which aims to provide modularity, simplicity and Ethereum equivalence for Layer2 networks. Earlier, Optimism announced that the Optimism mainnet Bedrock upgrade will be carried out on June 7, and the upgrade will require the OP mainnet to be shut down for 2 to 4 hours.
In addition, on the day of the upgrade, transactions, deposits and withdrawals will not be possible during the downtime, and the OP mainnet chain will stop running. Node operators need to start a new node deployment for Bedrock. (Blockworks)
