The Solana Foundation, a nonprofit entity dedicated to the maintenance and development of the Solana blockchain, revealed that it has incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) using a ChatGPT plugin developed by Solana Labs.
The developers of Solana informed that the ChatGPT plugin is readily available on GitHub for download, as Cointelegraph reports, as it aims to simplify the understanding of Solana data and its protocol. The plugin will provide insights into Solana’s computational infrastructure and its decentralized finance (DeFi) projects.
The current applications of the plugin extend to buying nonfungible tokens (NFTs), token transfers, transaction assessments, public account data analysis, and discovering NFT collections based on their floor price on the Solana network.

In a major boost to its commitment towards exploring the intersection of Solana blockchain and AI, the Solana Foundation announced a ten-fold increase in its grant funding, raising it from the initially pledged $1 million to $10 million.
Developers noted that the rolling grants program has so far garnered 50 applications. The nonprofit has also launched a three-month accelerator program specifically for university students interested in experimenting with blockchain and AI.
The program, according to developers, has received an “accelerator program specifically for university students interested in experimenting with blockchain and AI.,” and led to the launch of a chatbot named “ask Solana U.”
Notably, Solana Labs launched its cryptocurrency-centric smartphone, the Saga, earlier this month. The Saga is a $1,000 smartphone made in collaboration with OSOM, a Bay Area-based company, features a 6.67-inch OLED screen, a fingerprint sensor, 512 GB of memory, and two adaptable rear cameras, running on the newest Android OS.
What sets the Saga apart, according to Solana, is the “Solana Mobile Stack” (SMS) – a collection of bespoke add-ons designed to seamlessly integrate cryptocurrency functionality into both the hardware and software of the phone.
The Saga also comes with a custom “dapp” store that only offers cryptocurrency apps. Users can access over a dozen apps at launch, covering crypto trading, wallet messaging, music, and digital collectibles, with more expected to join in the future.
As CryptoGlobe reported, a research report on blockchain/crypto developers says that in 2022, among blockchain ecosystems with 1000+ total number of developers, Solana had the highest rate of growth (83%) of ecosystem developer count.
