U.S. President Biden said in a speech on the debt ceiling issue: "There were productive talks yesterday. I am confident that an agreement (on the debt ceiling) will be reached and I am sure that the United States will not default. We must unite because there is no other choice. The leaders agree that we will not default. I am proud of the progress the government has made in reducing the deficit. A group of negotiators met on Tuesday night and we will meet again on Wednesday. I will keep in close contact with the negotiators during my visit."
Biden also said: "We will continue to discuss until we reach an agreement. A press conference on the debt issue will be held on Sunday." (Planet Daily)
