TechFlow reported that according to an announcement by security company Zellic on May 16, the Sui blockchain network recently fixed a vulnerability that could put "billions of dollars" at risk. The vulnerability is located in the dependency of the bytecode verifier, which is responsible for ensuring that the human-readable Move language is correctly transcribed into machine code during deployment for writing smart contracts on Sui. If this vulnerability is not fixed, it could allow attackers to bypass multiple security properties, resulting in potentially significant economic losses.

Sui developer Mysten Labs fixed the vulnerability on March 30, when the Zellic team notified it of the existence of the vulnerability. The vulnerability may also exist in other Move-based networks, including Aptos and Starcoin.

According to the Zellic team, the vulnerability in the Aptos version was eliminated via a patch on April 10.
