What exactly is Bitcoin Pizza Day?
Bitcoin Pizza Day is celebrated on May 22 every year to commemorate the first commercial transaction made using BTC in the real world. In 2010, a programmer named Laszlo Hanec bought two pizzas for 10,000 bitcoins from another user on the Bitcointalk forum. To this day, the Bitcoin community still celebrates the first real purchase using a digital currency.
At Binance, we like to celebrate this occasion in our own way; From trading promotions in 2020 to CZ offering pizza slices in 2022. Every year we have kept our offerings going strong and you will soon see that 2023 will be our biggest celebration yet with more events than ever before.
Binance Events for Bitcoin Pizza Day
Italian Super Cup match Napoli, Sunday, May 21
On Bitcoin Pizza Day, what better way to celebrate than in Italy, the world's number one pizza destination? Join us in a pizza making competition to see who has the best pizza baking skills. Attendees will receive their own Binance pizza (first come, first served!) and other giveaways during the event.
Pizza dominates celebrations in Cambodia, Pakistan and Uruguay.
In Cambodia, a local pizzeria will host a community meeting on Sunday, May 21.
Members of the Binance community in Montevideo Uruguay, Buenos Aires Argentina and Mexico City will also have the opportunity to meet and share food at local pizzerias on Monday, May 22.
Finally, on Wednesday, May 24, Binance members in Pakistan will search for clues to discover the city and pinpoint the location of a Binance-branded pizzeria.
Pizza carts in Brazil, Bahrain and Vietnam
On Monday, May 22 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Tuesday, May 23 (in Bahrain), and Thursday, May 25 (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam), Binance Pizza Vans will tour three secret cities. We will provide clues and hints about their exact locations, so all you have to do is stay tuned and follow us to get free pizza!
